Eta Carinae
Eta Carinae Nebula
The Eta Carinae Nebula (also known as the Great Nebula in
Carina, the Carina Nebula, or NGC 3372) is a large bright
nebula which surrounds several open clusters of stars. Eta
Carinae, one of the most massive and luminous stars in the
galaxy, is one of them. The nebula lies at an estimated
distance between 6,500 and 10,000 light years from Earth. It
is located in the constellation of Carina. The nebula
contains multiple O-type stars.
This nebula is one of the largest H II regions in the
Milky Way galaxy. It has a visual magnitude of 1.0.

Public Viewing
Nights |

Just to let
everyone know, public viewing nights are held
every first Friday of the month. Clear or cloudy
nights the public viewing night goes ahead.
Members man a number of telescopes of various
sizes and types, and for those nights where the
sky is cloudy, extended astronomical presentations
are presented in the MPAS Viewing Centre.

along and enjoy our nights sky.
