Society monthly meeting recorded on 20240717 at The Briars Mount Martha Observatory.
Following the Annual General Meeting, the regular monthly meeting then proceeded.
Meeting introduction was by the President, Dr. Peter Skilton. Vice President, Chris Kostokanellis, then presented the Astrophotographic challenge for the month, and showing the submissions received from members for the previous challenge.
Committee member, Dr. Guido Tack, then presented the Sky for the Month in absentia by video.
The main topic was by Walt Cooney, board member of both the Houston Astronomical Society and the American Association of Variable Star Observers who spoke on the topic of “Cataclysmic Variables: Stars That Go Boom!” This talk was from October 2020 and is courtesy of the Houston Astronomical Society.
Peter Skilton then presented the following science video: “Using Moonbounce to Search for Signatures of Life” courtesy of NASA/Hubble from 2019.
